2. Now take your image or text, and make sure there is about twice as much room for the image AND the shadow to be visible in the graphic. I am doing both text, and an image, to show you both outcomes.

3. Select the layer you wish to add shadow to, and duplicate it.
4. Now go to Edit >> Transform >> Flip Vertical. Place the image/text right under the previous layer, like in my image.

5. Take your rectangle Marquee tool, and make a rectangular selection, about 1/2 the height of the "shadow". Make sure that "Feather" (found on the top options bar) is set to 20.

6. Now simply press Delete, until you get what you want. I also lowered the opacity of the shadow layer.

7. For an added effect, go to Edit >> Transform >> Free Transform, or press Ctrl + T. Holding the Shift + Ctrl + Alt keys, click and drag the bottom left or right handles outward.
